Hull # 001
She's a beauty! The first GB 49 fiberglass Hull #1
Featured in the July 1980 issue of Yachting magazine...and made her debut at the Miami boat show that year. Several previous owners had made changes from her original appointments and equipment, but she maintained her classic beauty and style. Formerly named "Ganesh" ( the Hindu god ), her name at the time of our purchase was "Daydream". Upon purchase, her condition appeared to be more of a nightmare!
Beneath the dirt, mold, and chalky fiberglass and loose decks, she was a grand lady!

Tobi anxiously awaits the arrival of our vintage GB 49. Standing at a great vantage point for arrival at the North Bridge boat ramp.....seeing the transom was a bit of a shock. My first view of the boat.....what did we get ourselves into !!!!!?

American News....The very first pictures of our 49 Banks!
We found an old discarded "Spray" issue ( Grand Banks owners magazine ) in the book share at Beaufort SC marina. In this issue was an article about the on-line availability of back issues of American Marine News, the GB industry newsletter. Eureka! We stumbled upon the on-line issue showcasing our very own GB...hull #1 ( stripped down and ready for transport from the factory in Singapore to the US. Way cool!
